Protect your battery. A forklift battery costs more than a proper charger — so sizing it right matters. Here's the essential know-how, the same advice we'll walk you through on the phone. SIZING ### How big a charger? Forklift chargers are usually sized at .14C to .20C — that's 14%–20% of your battery's amp-hour capacity. Know your battery's Ah rating before choosing, or to check whether your existing charger is sized correctly. Example: a 600 Ah battery → .14C–.20C = roughly an 85–120 amp charger. BALANCE ### Don't go too big or too small Oversize too much and you risk overcharging and shortening battery life. Undersize too much and you risk undercharging, failing to stir the chemistry, and overworking the charger. A little either way is fine — a lot is not. LIFESPAN ### Make the battery last Most forklift batteries are rated for 1,500+ cycles (a cycle = 80% discharge). Daily use works out to ~5 years; lighter, well-maintained use can reach 15 years, and gentle solar-style cycling 25+. We favor charging at ~50% rather than waiting for deep discharge. CONNECTORS ### Anderson connectors matter Chargers connect via an industrial Anderson-type connector — typically 175A or 350A in red, grey, or blue. Color and amp rating are **not** interchangeable, so we supply the connector matched to your application. That's why we talk before completing an order.
